Pocket shut down in July 2025, and everyone who leaned on that little save button has been deciding what to do since. The honest answer depends on which kind of Pocket user you were — and most people were not the kind they thought.

If Pocket was your deal-with-it-later pile
Most people used Pocket differently: as the place links went so a tab could close. The queue was not for reading — it was for keeping, and the only feature that ever mattered was finding something again later. A reading app is the wrong replacement for that habit, because the reading features were never the point.

Common questions
- Can I import my Pocket export file?
- Not yet — there is no bulk import today. You can paste or share links into Hako one at a time; most people start fresh with new saves and pull old links over only when they actually need one.
- Does Hako have offline reading or highlights?
- No. Hako is not a reading app — no reading queue, no typography settings, no highlights. If those matter to you, one of the reader apps above is the right choice.
- So what is Hako actually good for?
- The pile. Every link you save gets a title, a picture, and searchable text, and it sits next to your recipes, todos, and notes — so the thing you half-remember from three weeks ago comes back with one search.
- Is it free?
